American Saddlebreds At Shamrock Farms

Rob has trained horses since he was 12 years old—then it was Shetland ponies a neighbor bred and showed, during highschool Rob trained several Standardbreds as Roadsters along with working at Heritage Farms and Warner Jones and showing Saddlebreds for friends. He purchased his first Saddlebred from Uldulata Farm and Jane Meyers in Shelbyville, Kentucky in 1965.

Julianne grew up in a Saddlebred showing family who trail rode thru the park in the fall and winter with the show horses. The first Saddlebred she remembers riding was her mother’s champion 3 gaited gelding, Rainbow, trained by Richard Lavery Sr in Cleveland, Ohio.

After Rob and Julie married in 1968, they took the ASB Champion, Hyland Shamrock, with them to Ft Knox . He was a real standout among the quarter horses and game horses at the army base. After “Sham” got loose and knocked over rabbit hutchs in the officers gardens, he moved to Louisville and ended up with John Nix Sr boarding. Rob trained for private owners until moving back to Smithfield after his army career. Soon Rob had so many clients who wanted him to train their horses , he built a training barn on the farm and split his time training Saddlebreds and grain and hay farming.

Rob began training Saddlebreds full time in 1976 and the barn has been full ever since. Some of the Champion horses he bred and/or or trained are: Cameron Crest Stonewall, The Derby Kid ( ) Hot Hot Hot, High Stakes Lady, Endolane Admiral, Titliest Commander, Titliest Belle of Dixie, Endolane Top Cat, Clearly Titled, Arwen,

Attache’s Elegance, Santana’s Keepsake, Endolane Temptation, Endolane Supreme Admiral, Magic Under The Stars, Priceless Heirloom, Like Fine Wine, Roy Rogers, Endolane Lady Cat, Endolane Symphony, Leading Cloud, First In Fashion, Clearly Topless, Maxed Out, Decision 88, and Know No Boundary.

Rob enjoys breeding stock and has acquired older mares to breed to the young stallions offered. He is a gifted trainer of youngsters and very knowledgable with the problem horses that come for training and he is very successful training game amateur and juvenile horses . Rob feels blessed to be able to do what he loves and seldom worries about long days of hard work that come with having livestock.

Saddlebreds of Past and Present are pictured on these pages.
